Herb Robert (Geranium robertianum)
Geranium robertianum is a very small wild flower with many different names. It is also often called Herb Robert, Red Robin, Death come quickly, Storksbill, Dove’s Foot, Crow’s Foot, or Robert Geranium. It is a type of crane’s-bill with five small but beautiful mauve petals and flowers from May to September and small insects seem to love it. It is an opportunist plant and considered a weed by ‘normal’ gardeners. I find it growing all over my wildlife garden and have to pull most of it up, but I always leave some growing for the insects. If left alone it will grow into quite a large display.
